Cheryl E. Leonard

Cheryl is a composer, performer, and improviser of acoustic and electronic music, and interdisciplinary works. Her interests include sound and noise, collaboration, guerrilla performance, and developing new relationships between artists and audiences. Leonard holds an M.A. from Mills College in music composition, and has performed and presented works in Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, and throughout the United States. She is the recipient of an ASCAP Foundation Grant to Young Composers, a residency at Villa Montalvo, a Meet the Composer Grant, and has been honored in New Langton Art´s Bay Area Awards Show. As the violinist for Caroliner, Leonard has toured the U.S. and Japan. Her interactive sound/sculpture installation, "The Underwater Flying Machine," recently premiered at Lincoln Center.
