Wallflowers is a series of new acrylic paintings by Oakland-based artist Darren Jenkins addressing the edges of the domestic environment. Monochromatic depictions of various flies are painted on floral patterned wallpaper samples to comment on idyllic perceptions of nature. The juxtaposed renderings of the flies ironically reference organic processes of decay, exploring the area between representational depiction and the abstract concerns of design in composition.
