in the foyer gallery:
Leslie Henslee
Roadside Attractions

January 18-February 16
Gallery Hours: Wednesdays-Saturdays, 1-6
Opening Reception: Friday, January 18, 6-9

Aligning herself with the musing of the fantastical novelist Tom Robbins, Leslie Henslee’s sculpture jumps off where Earthwork muddles and runs towards the far edges of art/consumer relationships. Roadside Attractions are bastardized Earthworks infused with the complexities of the American off-ramp, sprouted up from parroting architectural McMessages. Presented as a series of models for a fast-food chain of the future selling art objects, hotdogs and entertainment, this fantastic bazaar constructed in traditional and nontraditional earth building techniques ponders the possibilities of art making and art consuming.
