Calling all Mission Artists!

Do you live, work or make art in the Mission? If so, you may want to join the Live Art LABoratory.

The Live Art LABoratory is part of the The Living LABoratory, a residency & installation by Lise SwensonDuring August and September a team of Mission artists are investigating and excavating the neighborhood, bringing back artifacts, documentation and artworks to create a site-specific environment that, in conjunction with gallery hours, will host the Live Art LABoratory

The Living LABoratory runs September 12-October 3.  Opening reception: Thursday, September 12, 7-9 PM
Gallery hours:
Wed-Sat 1-6 PM

If you are an artist working in the media of video or film, spoken word, performance art, or dance we are accepting submissions for four evenings of live work!

If you are a VISUAL ARTIST we are reserving a large wall in the Foyer Gallery for you to help create an interactive work of art. Call or check The LAB website for details.

Guidelines for submission: Tell us who you are and what you want to do.  For ALL disciplines include a resume or bio, a SASE, (your work will not be returned without it), your contact information and a one paragraph description of the proposed work.  All proposals should be 20 minutes or less.  ALSO for Spoken Word include one prior writing example or VHS documentation, for Video/Film the proposed work or work in progress on VHS, for Dance proposed work or example work on VHS, for Performance proposed work or example work on VHS.  All submissions are due at The LAB by 5 PM on September 9th.

What the Living LABoratory project offers you:
-Participation in the September performances at the LAB
-Possible inclusion in press and poster
-Possible inclusion in "Mission Movie" feature film project
-Free tickets to all Living LABoratory live events
-Limited material support
-Access to quality documentation

Emerging and established performers, film and video makers from all backgrounds and perspectives are encouraged to apply. All genres will be considered.

The Space:
The LAB gallery can provide lighting, sound and video technical support if needed but this must be worked out well in advance. Main gallery space measures 54'7" x 38' but please note there will be a large installation in the space and if your work has specific space requirements please make sure to visit the site before hand and work this out with the staff. Linoleum tile floors.
