Since its founding in 1984, The LAB has supported the development and presentation of new visual, performing, media, sonic, and literary art. The LAB has had a major impact on the Bay Area community and the careers of such artists as Rene Yung, Rex Ray, Dawn Fryling, Lise Swenson, and John High.

Today, The LAB is at a crucial turning point as we strengthen our commitment to supporting experimental and emerging artists, while contending with reduced funding and increased overhead. In order to continue our innovative programs, our goal is to raise $10,000 by December 31, 2008. Every contribution is crucial, no matter what the amount. Your support will help The LAB directly to:

• Develop a larger number of inventive visual and performing art programs, focusing on emerging curators
• Build on affordable workshops and critique groups for visual artists and film makers
• Build a contingency fund to secure the future of The LAB
• Continue and strengthen our residency program for artists
