From the taxidermied bestiaries of natural history museums to the life-like waxworks that haunt our pop culture memories, Marvelous Creatures reveals the convulsive beauty of animals and their oscillation between attraction and repulsion. In a series of photographic shocks, fixed in time or repetitive in movement, Kreider's video bears witness to a primordial trauma, a confusion between the animate and the inanimate, the biological and the mechanical, Eros and Thanatos.
