Vallens explores the intersection of minimal rhythms, analog processing and grayscale atmospherics. Jon Porras has released solo albums on labels Root Strata, Immune Recordings and Thrill Jockey. His layered, multidimensional methods evoke the opaque serenity of the foggy SF landscape and work to depolarize forces of light and dark. A visual environment built from layered projections will accompany this performance.
Former Selves is a conduit through which Paul Skomsvold translates ambiguous emotions into audio/video pieces for analysis and understanding. He is influenced by nostalgia and introspection. His music has been released on different formats (i.e., cassette tapes, CDrs, and DVDs) by various independent labels, such as Bridgetown Records, Constellation Tatsu, Hooker Vision, and Rotifer Cassettes.
Kevin Greenspon is a musician from Los Angeles, CA that blends ambient, electronic, drone, field recording and harsh noise composition into short songs that can be likened to miniature film scores. Primarily using guitar, effects and tape collage techniques, each song is an emotionally engaging arrangement of melodies and electronics fueled by a storytelling nature. Restraint and subtlety are key elements in Greenspon's work, carefully balancing between sparse quietude and dense layering of orchestral melodies and crackling textures as fingerpicked guitar notes seemingly swell in from reverse, weaving a constantly shifting atmosphere with deliberation and focus, never losing control of the space as a medium for channeling sound into song.
