Michelle Lou and Stefan Maier, longtime friends working the field of electroacoustic performance and composition, perform a multichannel duo project at The Lab. Fusing Lou's multichannel computer synthesis with Maier's work on modular synthesis, the duo explores shifting clouds of spectral densities, angular textures, throbbing drones and pintillistic interjections. Their live recording, titled simply "Live at UCSD," was released on Dinzu Artifacts in 2024.

Michelle Lou composes mainly in the realm of electro-acoustic music, both in hardware and in computer based forms. She has also created large scale sound installations which are often performative and collaborative. Stefan Maier composer from Vancouver, Canada — the unceded, traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Approximately 100,000,000 Unread Messages is the duo of Connor Tomaka and Isabelle Waldner Kalb, investigating the tactility at the edges of electroacoustic instrumentation through compositions for guitar and computer. Their collaboration reproduces the music of the way people communicate today, unfolding fugues from countless minute inputs towards an endless implosive metastasis. Distinct in approach yet parallel in palette, together they produce a disjunctive synthesis, every touch updated and restated into circulation without destination.
