Box Office & Gallery Attendants [Posted: 5/5/2026]

Compensation: $25/hr, P/T, Non-Exempt

The Lab is seeking Box Office and Gallery Attendants to help serve our audience across exhibitions and live events. As a multifaceted organization, we are looking for individuals who are interested in working across both areas of our programming in an effort to get a full sense of the organization and provide opportunities for employee growth and stability.

As a non-exempt position, this role is eligible for overtime as required by California labor law. All employees of The Lab receive paid sick leave and automatic enrollment in our 401k plan with a generous employer match. Part-time employees are not eligible for vacation, medical, or other benefits except as required by law or stipulated above. Evening and weekend work is required.

Experience that could be helpful in this role includes any audience or customer-facing roles in retail or service sectors; museum services roles; DIY experience in music, art, or events; volunteering with similar organizations; other customer service experience.

Box Office Duties:

  • Provide helpful and calm service to audience members attending events at The Lab

  • Handle presale ticket scanning, will-call, and comp lists

  • Sell walk-up tickets through Square, securely handling and accounting for cash sales at the close of the night

  • Maintain a physical presence at the front desk throughout events

  • Prepare for planned ADA accommodations, and route last-minute ADA accommodations to proper staff channels per-event

Gallery Attendant Duties:

  • Open gallery, turn on all audiovisual installations, and ensure primary exhibition space and front desk is tidy

  • Replenish programs and exhibition brochures as-needed

  • Remain knowledgeable about exhibitions, and offer information on artists, organization, and current exhibitions as appropriate

  • Other duties (as time allows) may include packaging mail-order merchandise, selling walk-up tickets to live events, administrative support in the form of audience database maintenance and limited customer support
